BBQ is all about "low and slow". You can't tell if you are "low" without proper thermometers. This is a dual probe unit and has both a sender and receiver which allows for remote monitoring of both the smoker temperature as well as the meat itself. I ordered this one directly from the manufacturer in New Jersey several years ago.
Being able to monitor the temp from inside the house is great on those frigid days when you don't want to be outside.
For today's smoke I have the unit set to alert me if the smoker temp drops below 220F or goes above 250F. The pork itself will cook until it reaches 190F.thermometer pictures
